Yes, I'm referring to all of you; Fan, Drew, Thomas, Skp, Khen, Seth, Darkfire, Light, Chak, Stenry, Shaden, FlameSword, Uno, Munna, Scott, Noriel, Lucas, Alec, James and even you, Ultra. Myself included (just out of self-humor and convenience; Vince).
It's been about a year since we've had anything major in the wiki; major updates, major discussions, major threats, major events and even major randomness (the current randomness is, to be honest, on a stale level).
And since we've all taken way too much time just standing by and doing nothing in our lives here in the wiki we are (no, we aren't gonna quit; shut your mouth and sit down) gonna do some major things around the wiki to actually keep it on a clean place; where the wiki is currently at is not considered clean --- it's literally a mess (yes, I know I could just do that myself with all my "free time", but let's me put this here first --- I'm about to take summer school soon out of a hunch that I failed one of my subjects this semester; so that takes away yet more time in my life from what I should be spending it on (E.G: Like being here in the wiki and at the K-On! Wiki), so screw that).
So start of this (soon to be forgotten and ignored anyway) thread that I just [hopelessly] created, let me sum it all up into different sections that we all have to (yes, ALL of us have to; it's time you take part yet again in [hell] wiki activities) do in the wiki to improve to say the least (just out of a better or simpler word to say; yes, I'm being bossy and stupid again --- deal with it).
Alright, but first, sit your butts down on whatever surface you are currently reading this on, pay attention, keep your focus on this (unless you're brain-dead) and just (for goodness sake) bear with this and read it thoroughly:
Seriously, we need new templates around the wiki. The current templates are now atrocious. They may not to you and others, but to me, they are. They just are. They are seriously horrible now than before.
With that [honestly] said, we need new ones that are just good enough so that they aren't considered really horrible. I've also had this idea that we should create new ones that differ in category; character templates and user specific templates. This way, we don't have to use the same templates in the [more or less] same type of characters, items and locations within the Slush Invaders series (this also includes anything else that Michael/Gilded creates).
Templates which I will exemplify would be as such:
Character-specific templates must be in different colors, depending on their roles in the series; a character that is among the Slush Fighters, among the Invaders or among other unknown factions. The way we do this is differentiating the colors of their infoboxes; green for the Fighters, blue for the Invaders and yellow for other characters without any specific group (Limes are included into this).
Boss type characters will have to be red due to obvious reasons.
Meanwhile, user specific templates are on an optional customization place; meaning that those who wish to create their own specific template for their own are on their own for this but can ask for help if they need to.
If somebody can be helpful enough to voluntarily customize the templates we already have in the wiki into the ones that I just exemplified, that would be wonderful!
They look awfully arranged. It's like some typhoon came by and just messed up the whole category in every single page around the wiki.
Alright, let's get down to the real thing here. We have to redo all of them properly. We really REALLY have to. How? That is simple: Remove a category that really is unneeded and does not fit whatever page it is on.
Example: Stickyle's page has these categories in his page; Slush Fighters, The Movie, Auto Fighters, Upgraded Standard Fighters, The Game, Ultra attack fighters, Slush Defenders, Slush Invaders Characters, Slush fighters that uses fire, Elemental Attacker, Fighters who change their icons, Not-playable Slush Invaders Characters, Non-affecting Fighters, Fighters who do not use weapons, Th (what even?), Melee Fighters, Starting Fighters, Unlocked in regular mode, Slush Tile Rush and Original Articles.
Seriously? To make this short, the categorizes that I mentioned that are italized must be removed; they are literally inappropriate and insignificant to Kyle's page. The one's that I did not italize can stay because they fit into his page fine.
Regarding others with the same problem (more or less), remove the categories that don't fit in and leave out the ones that are significant to the page (in this example for every Slush Fighter-specific character; leave the categories Slush Fighters, Slush Invaders Characters and Slush Tile Rush in their pages.
Simple explanation enough?
Need I say more?
We need to do a daily or weekly round in the wiki to inspect any spams, grammar errors, unneeded information or just to keep the wiki safe (like a patrol in this case).
Continuing with what I said about infoboxes in the templates, we need to double check the infoboxes in the wiki and properly put what is necessary into the pages they are put in.
Only put in information that is significant and has an actual relation to whatever or whoever's page it is on. Let's not complicate this any more than it should be. Simple task. Simple finish.
Same as the Extra Clean-Up duty I'll be giving everyone, but this one is a weekly thing.
Apart from me (who is active on a daily basis), we need people to go by the wiki once at the end of each week (Saturday) and to check the place out for any "inconvenience" and to keep it in proper order while the others are away doing...
Whatever the hell they are doing (I don't flipping know). Just one or two users (excluding me) who can make enough space in their busy schedule to go active in the wiki three times a day during the end of the week.
I can assign people who can, but those who can't can ask someone else to take their place for the time being. It may be an unnecessary thing, but just as a precaution, but we just need this. Trust me. We do.
Simple question for this: Who can properly align the wiki's current background?
Whoever can take this up, big thank you!
The same as going around the wiki to check for any "problems", but we need someone who can inspect every single active user to date's user pages for anything "suspicious" (no, I'm not referring to anything personally suspicious; don't look at me), just in the case that somebody might try to break the rules and test us by spamming around.
This is in the case for what happened with Thomas a while back; a new user came by whose name I will not even dare say bcuz reasonz and foolishly decided to deface Thomas' main user page by editing it saying "I like [censored]" (look up TRS' user page's history page for what he wrote on Thomas' page).
Right now, he is still blocked.
This is also just a precaution, just in case any [annoying] troll out there may arrive and try to spam on each of our user pages and the pages itself.
Somebody (specifically Fan) has to update the poll in the home page of the wiki.
It's been a year since Slush Tile Rush came out and if that poll isn't updated still, it will be about 2 years since that poll was up. Somebody has to change it. Along this, somebody has to change the featured image and featured page once every week. We may have a limited amount of images and pages in the wiki (since Slush Invaders isn't that much popular anymore; but have faith in it and Michael), but that's something we have to keep updated to add more show that this place is still active and so are its users.
So yeah. Not much to say about that apart from what I just mentioned we need to do about it.
Half of the Fanon pages in the wiki are still present and knowing full well that it was my job to delete every single one of them without needing to wait for all of you after the deadline (which was during January 12 of last year), I've decided to let those remain (referring to the remaining fanon pages that I haven't deleted) until the owners of those page remain and can move them to the Fanon wiki.
And speaking of the Fanon wiki...
With the uprise of inactivity of users lately (being similar to the, I quote Fan-Fan, "Great Depression" of 2013), even though the Fanon wiki is now up for users to do their fan made pages there and keep on doing them there so that they won't interfere with the activities here in the main wiki, it seems that there have now been less activity than before.
A similar situation happened during 2013, but luckily went away by the time a dozen users joined and helped rose back the wiki's stand to where it is now, however, where it is apparently falling from again.
I will having another discussion thread regarding the Fanon wiki in that wiki itself soon enough, likely some time by the start of April to add up convenience since Fan will become more active due to Summer coming along (at the cost of me suffering yet another On Job Training class and likely summer school too), since she is the current owner of that place and the fact that Chak, Seth and Bright will also be active once again by this time.
Any way, rest assured, I will be beginning a new discussion there soon.
With those out of the way for now, I'm hoping (though foolishly) that we can at least accomplish this right now, as in this year itself, without any faults or any more mistakes.
Keeping this place as active as it can, that's a personal objective that I have. A literal one at that. I am still keeping my word of not letting this place die so long as I'm still alive and guess what, I'm still breathing... so that practically means that the wiki is also standing.
I made that promise and I'm keeping it still. It's gonna be almost 4 years since the wiki has been standing and almost 4 years since we've all been together (though being drifted away due to personal reasons that I will not disclose).
I would like to not see the day that we all be separated forever due to complications, due to personal grudges or even hatred... and I would like to not see us all be torn apart. That is something that will indeed break half of my soul. I've been giving my time to this wiki because, I don't wait for time and I know for sure that time does not wait for me. I make time for the wiki.
I make time to do whatever I want to do. Do whatever I need to do.
I make time to make things right... and maybe even make things wrong... or better or worse...
I make time because I know I can make it. But maybe I can't and I'm just being too naive for my own good. Or that I'm just talking nonsense.
But here is something I do know.
I make time because I want to. I want to make time to spend it on certain things. Doing my artworks, continue progressing my series, continue my other works in here, the Fanon wiki, the SF wiki, Dimitri's wiki, the Date A Live wiki, the K-On! wiki, the Gochiusa wiki and on the Metal Slug wiki.
I make time because I believe that I can make time for myself and make time to hang out with the people that I know certainly in myself that I consider close to me to the point that I consider them family, and as such, would not even think or dream about NOT spending a day without at least one of them. And that's you guys. There was never a day that I would not be here, never a day where I wouldn't try to gain your attention just to talk with me, never a day that I wouldn't try to act as though I didn't want to be teased so that you guys can do the opposite and never a day that I would imagine my life without any of you.
That has never happen nor will it ever happen.
You guys are a part of my life now. And that is an official thing for me. That may be something stupid and highly ambitious, but I honestly don't care.
Once someone or something has become close to me, they become a part of who I am. That is my life essentially. And losing those parts of me is like slowly dying in an even more painful way than what one could imagine as being the worst experience of death.
To put it bluntly; I care about you guys. Even though I may sound rude for the most time, that's just to show myself as being... well... me. I've explained this enough already as to why I do this and I know that you all remember why.
Ending this thread, let's try to make this discussion a major thing this year in our wiki's history. Let's try to accomplish something together for once.
So yeah, let's get a move on, fellas!
